People say music can be therapeutic. It is supposed to provide positive changes in mood and emotional state. I have yet to encounter this kind of music. I'm currently listening to Daughtry's song titled Home and it's making me feel a bit sad...
Do you think music is therapeutic? What kind of music are you listening to? Any recommendations?

You need some GOOD GERMAN music. And I am not kidding you.
Classical music can do so much good to your soul.
Here are some of my favorites:
Canon in D by Pachelbel (very soothing...)
Brandenburg concertos by Bach (They will lift your spirit)
Ode to Joy by Beethoven (What could be more cheerful than this???)
Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms (Yeah, this is a lot better than Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5....)
And if you are not into the famous musicians, Mein Vater war ein Wandersmann or Der fröhliche Wanderer
(the Happy Wanderer) is nice too. Give them a try. They have made many people feel better and that's why people listen to them again and again and again and again and again and don't get tired of them...
When I was younger, I used to listen to Sarah McLachlan. I think it was fumbling towards ecstasy. It wasn't happy, but it was good. You should try it out too.
